In the early years, Roger Waters served as Pink Floyd's bassist. He wrote his first published song 'Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk' in 1967 for the band’s debut album 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'. After the departure of Syd Barrett he took up the role of lyricist, co-lead vocalist, and conceptual leader. Here is pictured in June 1967 in an early shoot in Hampstead just eighteen months after the band started out.
